About me

Who am I?

I’m a student in Web Development & Graphic Techniques at the Higher Education School of the Province of Liège. I love discovering new things and doing things right. For me, every problem is an opportunity to learn and improve.

Mes compétences

Discover the different languages I’ve learned, as well as the software and tools I use.

Développement

HTML

HTML

I was introduced to this language during the first part of my first year at HEPL. It was taught to us in a comprehensive way, with an accessible development approach that follows WCAG and SEO guidelines.

CSS

CSS

During Q2 of the first year at HEPL, we were taught the basics of this language. In theory classes, we focused on the concepts of dynamic units and alignment. In practical classes, we recreated web pages with the help of Figma.

JavaScript

JavaScript

In the second year, we learned native JavaScript. We had an in-depth learning of the language. We had theory lessons and then did practical exercises to illustrate the theory. We were taught a clean coding approach.

TypeScript

TypeScript

After the JavaScript course, we studied the TypeScript language. We had theory classes, and then we made games for a more playful approach using Canvas. After this course, we were also introduced to SVG. We learned how to make simple shapes ourselves with theory lessons and practical exercises.

PHP

PHP

In the second part of the second year, we had a course where, through building a complex form, we learned concepts to make it dynamic, and also everything behind it (login, logout, error handling, etc.). We also had a course that focused on WordPress, which uses PHP. We studied specific concepts that were useful for developing the websites we had to build at the end of the year.

MySQL

MySQL

In the second year, to prepare us for the PHP course, we learned several concepts of the MySQL language, like creating tables, inserting data into tables, and selecting specific data from a table. Then we had classes where we applied those concepts by making a static site more dynamic.

Design

Figma

Figma

We discovered this software in the first year, but it’s really in the second year that we had proper lessons on it. First with a class where we had to design web applications, then with theory lessons where we learned the advanced features of the software, like variables, conditions, etc. With this software, I create my designs or wireframes before starting development.

Photoshop

Photoshop

During the first year, we learned to use the different tools of this software. Now, I’m able to make logos and posters with it. I know how to use this software to create SVGs and vectorize my images if needed.

Illustrator

Illustrator

In the first year, we had lessons where we learned the different tools of the software. We had a pretty complete learning experience. We were taught a non-destructive workflow.

Ma méthodologie

Discover how I go about creating a project.

1

Listening, analysis and planning

I always start by listening to and analyzing the customer's requirements. I take into account their expectations and needs, and check what can be done. Then I make a to-do list with all the tasks to be accomplished. I cut out the steps and organize everything in time to get an idea of the workload and the time it's going to take.

2

Research and inspiration (benchmark)

I research similar projects to see what works and what doesn't. I note what seems relevant, what can inspire me or, on the contrary, what I want to avoid. I note down what seems relevant to me, what might inspire me or, on the contrary, what I want to avoid. I put all these ideas together in a moodboard, adding my own ideas and inspirations.

3

Prototyping and visual design

I often start with hand sketches to get a quick overview. Then I create a cleaner, more structured wireframe. Once validated, I move on to the complete design phase.

4

Development

When a good part of the design is done (or sometimes as soon as it's finished), I move on to development. Having the design in front of me helps me make better progress with the code. I sometimes continue to improve the design as I go along, so that everything works well together. I then use a checklist to verify that everything I had planned is actually there. When it's right, I validate my work, using different validators.

5

Tests, feedback and improvements

I ask for other opinions on what I've done to get another point of view. This allows me to improve or correct certain details. I then test my work under different conditions to make sure everything works well.
