Project Description

Le Vieux Moulin is an association that welcomes, protects, and supports children separated from their families, providing them with a stable and caring living environment.

Context

As part of the same Web Design course, we had to create a website for a real client. Our group was chosen to work with the ASBL Le Vieux Moulin. The project was volunteer-based and aimed to increase visibility for the organization. At the end, one site (among all student projects) would be selected by professors and the association’s director to become the official website.

Constraints

The site had to be developed in WordPress so the client, who isn’t from the web field, could easily modify it. We had to use the association’s logos and colors, respect the provided content, and ensure we preserved the residents’ identity. Like the portfolio, the site needed to be responsive, accessible, semantic, and functional without JavaScript. Using GitHub was mandatory.

Languages and Tools Used

HTML, CSS (SASS), JavaScript, PHP, and WordPress.

My Process

I began with inspiration research on Dribbble, Behance, and Pinterest. I then created hand-drawn sketches to organize the provided content. After gathering and preparing the most relevant texts and images, I designed a wireframe, then a mockup in Figma, before developing the site.

Visual Style

I worked with the color palette from the association‘s logo. I opted for a clean, simple, and calming design that aligns with the organization’s mission.

Challenges Faced

I struggled to harmoniously integrate the logo colors into the design while keeping the site pleasant to read and navigate. This required several attempts and adjustments before achieving a balanced and professional result.
