Project Description
My portfolio showcases projects I’ve completed during my studies as well as my future professional projects. I primarily developed it using WordPress, which allows me to easily maintain and update it over time.
Context
As part of my second-year Web Design course, I had to create a portfolio website. This site serves as a digital showcase and resume for future job interviews and internship searches.
Constraints
I had to use WordPress to make the site dynamic and allow updates without directly touching the code. The specifications required a responsive site (adapting to all screens), accessible according to WCAG standards, semantically correct in HTML, and functional even with JavaScript disabled. I also had to manage WordPress integration and use Git/GitHub for version control.
Languages and Tools Used
HTML, CSS (with SASS), JavaScript, PHP, and WordPress.
My Process
I started by seeking inspiration by looking at portfolios from former students and exploring platforms like Dribbble, Behance, and Pinterest. Next, I created hand-drawn sketches to imagine the layout of elements. After writing all my content, I designed a wireframe and then a mockup in Figma before moving to development.
Visual Style
I chose a style reminiscent of a bulletin board or investigation board. This theme inspired me and allowed me to create original visual identity with interesting graphic possibilities.
Challenges Faced
Finding graphic references for this specific theme wasn’t easy, as few exist. I tested several design approaches before choosing the most relevant elements. Additionally, since this was one of my first projects of this scale, my work methodology wasn’t yet optimized, and I had to learn to better prioritize tasks.
